Proud editor of the YA/C Section at the LA Review of Books . We had a great 2012. Including first ePub . The one piece I wrote over LA Review of Books blog was about making art when going through trauma.

Also I loved being the Correspondence Coordinator for Letters for Kids at The Rumpus. So delighted by all the Letters for Kids for @The_Rumpus more letters coming at you in 2013. Hope you will subscribe.

Creative plan for 2013. Write More books. More comics. More everything. And restart The Literary Diaspora @litdiaspora

Happy 2013, all!

YA authors on Banned Book Week over at LA Review of Books Blog

This past week, over at the Los Angeles Review of Books (where i am the YA Editor) we’ve been marking banned book week. Many books – excellent books by excellent people – have been banned. Many of these banned books are books that you and I both love. And on the front lines of banned books are YA authors. So we’ve had some great YA authors, who have had their books challenged, talk a little bit about being banned. They do so with wisdom, humor and grace.

Ron Koertge

Susan Patron

Ellen Hopkins

Sonya Sones

Lauren Myracle

You should go read their books now.

Come see me at the Silverlake Jubilee!

Hello my fine friends.

Just a quick update that I’ll be hanging out over at the Silverlake Jubilee this Saturday and Sunday.   On Saturday I’ll be on a panel  with the LA Review of Books (you have been checking that out, right?)  (I’m the YA editor! Fun!)”The Electrocution of the Book: Reading, Writing, and Publishing in a Post-Print Culture,” (which sounds scary! but super cool!) moderated by LARB’s own Tom Lutz and featuring once and future LARB contributors Grace Krilanovich, Cecil Castellucci, Matthew Specktor and Ben Ehrenreich. (my fellow panelists are all totally impressively awesome!)

I’ll also be hanging out at the LARB booth and the Skylight Books booth.  So make sure to come and say hello!
